(TV) Krispie Cremes in 1984 Manchester

Speaking of visiting Manchester and Verlaine circa 1984:

I have always been amazed at the photos that appear on the
front covers of Let Go The Mansion (3:06)// Let Go The Mansion
(Instrumental version no. 2) (3:06)/ Lindi-Lu (3:40)
[UK 12" single 45rpm Virgin VS 696-12 1984 ]

and Five Miles of You (Extended Mix) (5:36) // Your Finest
Hour (2:28) / Dissolve/Reveal (Instrumental) (4:43)
[UK 12" single 45rpm Virgin VS 704-12 1984 ].

TV looks extremely uncomfortable in this Virgin Records[?]
photo shoot. Was this one of the only times he succumbed
(or was forced at gunpoint) into letting a record company try
to "package" him.

I actually find these photos rather endearing despite TV's obvious
stiffness and the silly poses.

Also, unlike his usually emaciated looks, his puffy face here and the
black raincoat/cloak gear make Tom look like he's been scarfing
down Krispie Cremes for the previous 2 months.

Can anyone shed any light on the story behind this photo shoot?

	Leo

Are you sure you're talking about Manchester in the north-west of England ?
