(TV) From today's NY Times...

* ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS, Village Underground, 130 West Third Street, Greenwich
Village, (212) 777-7745; 1039 Washington Street, Hoboken, N.J., (201) 798-0406.
Cleveland in the mid-1970's had a small but determined rock underground that
coalesced as the proto-punk band Rocket From the Tombs, which never made an
album but spawned two bands that did: Pere Ubu, led by David Thomas, and the
Dead Boys, with Cheetah Chrome on guitar. To celebrate the long-overdue release
of a collection of rehearsal and live recordings from 1975, "The Day the Earth
Met the Rocket From the Tombs" (Smog Veil), Mr. Thomas and Mr. Chrome have
reunited, to be joined by Richard Lloyd from Television on guitar. Whether Mr.
Thomas will wrap himself in aluminum foil and spraypaint his hair, as he did in
1975, is anyone's guess. At Village Underground tonight at 9 and tomorrow night
at 7:30; tickets are $15. At Maxwell's Monday at 9 p.m., with another Cleveland
expatriate Chris Butler (from Tin Huey) and his current band, the Cranks as
opening act; admission is $15 (Pareles).
