Re: (TV) Somewhat OT: Holdsworth vis-a-vis Verlaine / Starting Belew



Holdsworth was on the first UK album back in the 70s. That was with Bill Bruford and John Whetton too ( the King Crimson link ). Van Halen is said to be heavilly influenced by him. His style is considerably different from that of Fripps and not even remotely like Verlaine as far as I can tell. I think of Fripp and Verlaine as sharing a couple similarities to my ear. Holdsworth is certainly great - uber-great even, but not my cup of tea.
