(TV) third album

just picked up the _adventure_ reissue for my guitar
teacher (tonight will be the final episode of
"beginners 1").  found the third album there as well,
so bought that too.

this was the fourth copy of _adventure_ i've bought,
and i have everything else, but (confessing) had never
picked up the third album.  frankly, i assumed it just
wasn't that great (in comparison to the first two). 
having not seen it on a store shelf, just hadn't gone
out of my way to find it.  i've heard most of it on
live recordings, and have never been that excited
about the material.

on first listen, it's about what i had expected -- not
bad, not great.  i really like tom's vocals on _1880
or so_, and was surprised by (and like) _mars_.

but what i liked best were the comments i found at
amazon, which included:

"Also, Verlaine is not the vocalist he used to be."

"I'm sure the late 90's death of bassist, Fred "Sonic
Smith" didn't much help the revival effort either."

"It's enough to send a thousand Goth poseurs fumbling
for their eyeliner."

probably why they haven't released more albums.

on the money side, my purchases today ($35) should net
the band about $2.  i guess the bulk of that will go
to tom.
