What happened to his Tom's affect/drawl RE: (TV) Mtv brasil interview/Pretzel

I just got around to listening to the new Brazil interview (the '3-parter').
I think this shows once and for all that Tom is not the humorless,
anti-social, reserved person he is almost always made out to be (esp. by his
detractors).  

Dennis once said that Tom was an incredibly funny person and Dennis was
right of course as this interview showed Tom to be hilarious.  

I have a lot of recordings of Verlaine interviews from 1981 to mid 1990s and
for me the biggest surprise of this Brazilian one, besides the wit and
jokes, was how different the affect and speed of his speaking voice is in
this current interview.  He talks in an almost completely normal delivery
without his usual characteristic hesitant, slow, Delaware drawl.  I might
not have known it was him speaking without the accompanying video and of
course the subject matter.

Don't hold your breath though waiting for Tom to write his own version of
the history of the band.
