Re: (TV) Suicide / CD reissues

I just picked this up. I had never heard Suicide before last week. Initial
reaction: eeeehh. It'll take some getting used to. If I had found this back
when I was into NIN and just discovering Joy Division, I might have taken to it
more quickly (and that's not an insult). I'll keep listening.

Not a bad reissue though: 2 CDs, the first being their debut LP, the second
consisting of a live CBGBs recording from the same period, and the infamous "23
Minutes Over Brussels", all for under $15.

I picked up a few reissues last week along with this:

1. the UK version of the Clash's debut, which, as it turns out, really is
*much* better and more coherent than the US version (despite the absence of a
few great singles);

2. the 801 LIVE reissue (which nicely adds two bonus tracks, Eno's "Golden
Hours" and "Fat Lady of Limbourg", thus completing the concert, but
unfortunately has a really unforgivable mastering error in that the last track
("Third Uncle") is now faded-out!!! (Besides, I should have bought this through
Phil Manzanera's site, manzanera.com, which offers autographed copies (signed
by Manzanera) of the reissue, as well as some other recent Manzanera reissues).

3. Lastly, I finally bought the 2 CD Cars' debut reissue which came out a few
years ago. Disc 1 is the original LP (which I had never heard, outside of the 4
hit singles - every track is excellent), while disc 2 collects demos for nearly
every track on the debut ("Good Times Roll" is represented by a period live
track), plus five demos from the same period that never made it to LP (four
more demos from the same period appear on the 2CD JUST WHAT I NEEDED
retrospective but are not duplicated here). Nicely done, and less than $20.
