RE: (TV) Arthur Lee

time to testify.
i've joined any number of these music net lists cos most of my time logged
on is spent at a job i well & truly despise...figure these lists are
convenient & mildly captivating timewasters.
& yr right....most of the lists out there are filled with passive obsessives
who've poured everything they might have had as an individual into some sort
of mindless knee-jerk worship.
hence i've eventually unsubscribed from just bout every list i've joined.
except this one.
cos it doesn't seem that mindless & the fact that people here are willing to
engage you in a debate about yr personal revulsion towards junkies et al.
goes some way in illuminating it's merits.

Good points.
It isn't about puritan streaks although they certainly exist in our culture.
I am speaking about " artists" who I find marginal at best. I'm sorry but
there is a great tendency to call so many artists great. Great? How
stretched that word has become. I take this position because I find there is
always a great peril in practicing blind idolatry. I find much of what is
said on this thread idolatry and nothing else. I suppose we all need heroes;
we all need those that can act it or say it better than we can.
I just question the status quo on this thread. If this pisses people off or
makes them uncomfortable I really can't help it. That's life.
