Re: (TV) Intro to TV

I didn't have any trouble with "Marquee Moon" kicking in, since I was lucky
enough to be in NJ when Vin Scelsa (once potent force for good music, now
too damn precious and self-preoccupied - but I digress) played "Little
Johnny Jewel (Parts 1 & 2)" on his overnight WNEW-FM shift. It really stood
out amongst the Boston/Allman/Heart/Genesis of the time. Believe it or not,
that record was actually popular enought to get a LOT of airplay for a local
release in almost every slot but AM drive.
By the time MM came out I was living in Boston and gophering at WBCN and
that record ran into a lot of resistance - bit it still got played, and not
only on Oeddi's show. Leo and Joe's posts reminded me of a lot of things -
ah, the Coop! Ah, being too drunk to get out of Brighton before the "T"
stopped running! Ah, Oedipus - I could tell you stories, but I won't.
And when I was given a cheap electric guitar for a 30th birthday
present, one of the reasons I decided to learn to play the damn thing
instead of exchanging it for something useful was Verlaine/Lloyd. You
didn't have to sound like Clapton after all. Of course, I'm told I sound
like nothing on earth, so...
