Re: (TV) Eagles no way Jose

well with the dead it's a relatively unique situation cos
common knowledge (& for the most part, i'd agree) tells you
they never captured the live magic on record.
i'd say yeah in so far as the "jamming" (which can get a
little tedious...tho i really dug one writer who described
em as diving for pearls every nite...sometimes they
resurfaced empty-handed, other nites with fistfuls of
shimmering jewels..)
anyhow, start with "american beauty" & set aside yr
preconceptions.
move on to "workingman's dead", then begin backtracking thru
"aoxomoxao" & esp. the first...
they defined a particularly american mythos that's really
rung strong & true for me since moving to the west coast 6
yrs ago...they never backed down & granted they eventually
became a corporation worth millions; back in their heyday
(66-74 for me), they were as smart, intractable, confused,
irreverent, hopeful! as any other crucial 60s rock & roll
personae.
& listen to "american beauty", then immediately play
"loaded" & tell me you can't hear the cross-information...
