(TV) dori and bangs

i actually discovered her by accident -- like many
young punks, i love the work of lester bangs. shortly
after seeing _almost famous_ (which i love in the same
way i love black-n-white milkshakes) a friend of mine
told me to read bruce sterling's "dori bangs", a short
story that imagines another future for the cartoonist
dori seda and lester in which they redeem each other
and live to middle age. the only place the story is
currently availible is in _dori stories_, so i bought
that...and quickly became sucked in. wow! she sure
can draw. there's a lot of academic criticism one
could write about her, but i love her crosshatched,
detailed sketches (even if there is tmi at times), and
the combination of her joie de vivre and sadness. if
given a few million i'd love to make a film of _dori
bangs_ with syd as dori...any philantropists among
you? ^_-

just to steer this back on topic: has anyone out there
heard either of the lester bangs albums? i've only
been able to download "textbook case" off napster, but
after finishing _let it blurt_ & _psychotic reactions_
i may need to cave and purchase it to feed my lester
craving. also: are any of his reviews of television
availible anywhere? he gave an interview that's
reprinted in (i think) _a whore just like the rest_
and i'm curious to see if he elaborates on his
opinions elsewhere.

off to bed with me,
chelsea
