(TV) a couple of things from the last few digests

Re : Todd Hayes - I've got that Karen Carpenter video. Very strange thing done with Barbie dolls. My copy is in Sydney though and I'm in London. Although (Boston connection) my copy came from a dear friend in Allston.

All Tomorrow's Parties - I've noticed that the first ATP bands have announced shows outside the event - Yo La Tengo with Broadcast at Shepherds Bush Empire. Now, I don't know if the bands who play ATP weren't permitted to announce their own shows outside the event until a safe time not to draw tickets away or not. Maybe, but either way I figure that if TV are going to announce further UK shows they better do it soon. I can't afford the £100 (it does break my heart, but rent and food for the month of April must come first) and I will have to be content with closing my eyes and listening to more than likely booted show.

Moving on still, don't know if many Londoners are on this list but I just caught PJ Harvey and Stephen Malkmus play on Sunday and Monday night. Both fantastic shows, but PJ was definitely outstanding. If there are many Malkmus/Pavement fans out there but there are some rather neat promo items doing the rounds - 'who the fuck is Stephen Malkmus?' tshirts and promo cds of the Steven Tyler photo with SM's name instead of Jaggers.

Also (can you tell I only post twice a year?) I had an embarrassing moment when I was in the Music and Video Exchange in Notting Hill and the guy behind the counter was playing a *really* good mix tape. One particular song started bugging me because the voice was so familiar and the song sounded fantastic. I walked up and asked who it was and he says 'Tom Verlaine' and I cringed and walked out of there tail between the legs. I think it's time to invest in some solo wares (don't yell at me, I just didn't think it would be as good as Television and I don't have an older brother who knows best).

Craig.

Listening to - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - No More Shall We Part
Picking up this evening - New Kristin Hersh and Luna live 2lp.
