What Verlaine thought of Big Star beats me, though he obviously knew Alex
Chilton, since he was playing CBGB's during the same era with Chris Stamey.
and apparently Richard Lloyd played with them at one point or another (Lloyd
certainly produced and wrote Chris Stamey's "I Thought You Wanted To Know"
single in this period). Chilton released the Bangkok 45 and the Singer Not
the Song EP on Ork records, as well as the One Day in NY LP, recorded live
in this era.
