Don't apologize for your "tirade" nothing wrong with it-- I've written several letters to Boston Phoenix myself over the years complaining about their music coverage (I once wrote them a letter about not properly covering a 1982 Verlaine Boston show at the Paradise, and they edited out my remarks about the incestuous relationship between the Phoenix owner and the Paradise .) 

If I can find the unedited version of my letter I might even subject the MMlist to it by posting it.

Ps:  Which gets me to thinking, has anyone on list ever written a letter (even if never mailed) to Verlaine (or Lloyd pre-his website)?

Yeah I read that bogus article in what is my local paper The Phoenix. I have 
written to the writes more than once to that publication on the erreounous 
articles about the music scene twenty years ago. It seems that this group at 
The Phoenix are hearing and reading about the music second hand and then 
rewriting like they were there. It pisses my off. When I call them on it they 
are all apologies and say that they didn't really remember it that well "they 
were drinking and stuff" and their memories were hazy. Well, then don't write 
about it I say. God what idiots. Carioli must be in some stupid drunken 
stupor herself to deface Iggy about him being such "a pussy" . It suck to get 
old and remember the truth while others get paid to write this crap.
Sorry for the tirade but it is frustrating
