(TV) Scientist Writes A Letter/Have Mercy

Philip,

I only ever sent one letter (c/o Warner Brothers Records' address on the Dreamtime liner notes, so I'm sure he probably never received it), and I'm not sure if it falls totally into the category of "fawning" since I at least critique TV's set list. But whatever the case, list members please show some mercy------remember, 1982 was a long time ago and I was quite young).

Dear Mr. Verlaine,

I'll try to keep this brief as you probably suffer fools badly.

First, it is my belief that you are one of the overlooked geniuses of the twentieth century. Your concerts last fall in Boston, Hampshire College (the night the power failed), and The Ritz in New York were truly transcendental, but I missed your softer, more romantic side. Maybe when you played "Major Burnside"[sic] in Boston, the audience's response may not have been what you would have hoped for, but don't give up so easily. What audience could fail to respond to "Last Night" or "Without A Word" with their breathtaking solos. Without these songs your otherwise flawless live performance seems a bit one-dimensional. We know you can rock, Tom, but you're a poet too.

	Very most sincerely yours,

		Leo Casey "

Oh yes. I wrote a fawning fan letter in the Summer of 1994 or 1995 and sent it
to Verlaine's management company (advertised on the inside of WARM & COOL).

I also sent him a birthday card a few years ago.
