(TV) RE:ShelleyDevoto/Lydon/Dumptruck/Peter Hammill

My First post in ages, time I stopped lurking.

The ShelleyDevoto :BuzzKunst CD is a wonder...Nothing like the
Buzzcocks....Miles better than Luxuria...A joy to listen to....Closer to Eno
than anything if your looking for a reference but not that close, as Ray says,
"Very Angular but Strangely hooky."

Not in the least bit suprised about the remixed GSTQ, why tamper with
something that was good in the first place.....This is Virgin's last chance to
cash in on the Pistols as the rights to the songs revert back to the band next
year. Hay, leave off lydon, a Queen he maybe....but always
entertaining....and always on the wind up.....I quite like some of the latter
P.I.L stuff.....John McGeoch's guitar work is excellent and interplay's with
Lydon's vocals very well......Must admit I would Steer well clear of "That
What Is Not." though.

Somebody here mentioned Dumptruck Recently, Which sent me looking for a
forgotten classic of theirs "For The Country". I Picked it up in A H.M.V sale
in 1988 for 99p....The lyrics just spoke volumes to me at the time...Great
stuff it is too....Recorded at Rockfield in Wales with Hugh Jones
producing...Ring any bells Ray?

This months Mojo sent me back to old Pete Hammill LP's after their Van Der
Graaf piece.....Nadir's Big Chance was getting a right bashing on the stereo
till my wife came in and said...."What is this Awful punk rubbish your
playing!!!!!" and that was the end of that.....Probablybe 10 years until I
hear it again......She quite liked "Fool's Mate " though.

Anyway, back to lurking.............Steve.
