Re: (TV) Royalties: Do the Simple Math/Carlucci lost archived post?



This reinforces my point about the wide inaccuracy of these RIAA distinctions.
It took 24 years for PET SOUNDS to go Gold, but only two more months for it to
go Platinum? Did it really sell 500,000 copies between February and April of
2000, or was someone at the RIAA just trying to guesstimate twenty years of
sales? At that rate, I would have expected it to sell an additional 500,000
every two months in 2000, making it one of the best-selling records of the year
with over 2.5 million copies.
