Bob Marley & the Wailers (my all-time favourite: "Johnny Was" from Rastaman
Vibration -- fabulous vocals, brilliant arrangement, such a sweet sad song)

I dunno... It seems to me that great reggae is linked to Rastafarianism.
Augustus Pablo showed the way on the instrumental side. On the vocals side,
a great sampler of dub reggae is "Dubwise & otherwise" from Blood and Fire.
(Their web site www.bloodandfire.co.uk says: "Originally released as a
budget price sampler exclusively through Virgin Stores (UK). This CD-only
17-track audio catalogue looks set for a general US release in November.")
