Re: (TV) MM and A- The Old Issues

Hey, saw Arthur Lee and the 'new' Love live on Jools Holland's show the
other night. Orchestra and everything. It was brilliant.

I caught their show when they came to Northern Virginia. They played a venue called the Birchmere and I really didn't know what to expect in terms of the crowd. When I got there the show had to be moved to the larger hall because it was oversold for the bandstand area and was almost soldout. The crowd ranged in age from early 20's to 40 +. So, it was evident that more people have discovered this record long after it's initial release (me included).

The show was fantastic. They opened with "Your Mind and We Belong Together", then proceeded to play "Forever Changes" in it's entirety (with horns and strings, no less). They encored with a new song, "Rainbow In The Storm" (breaking a songwriting rule of mine - no songs about rainbows and equating rain with human suffering), and performed: "7 & 7 Is", "Singing Cowboy", "Orange Skies", "MY Little REd Book".

"Forever Changes" ranks up there with "Marquee Moon" and THe Eagles "One of THese Nights" (okay, I'm lying - but a Rhino webpage I read actually called that a "classic" ;))
