(TV) Part 3 of 3: Demos III: Lanier Demos for Clive Davis / Neon Boys & Poor Circulation?

Part 3
Demos III: Lanier
NICK KENT: "To the facts then - recorded in A & R Studios, New York, produced by Verlaine himself,
with engineer Andy Johns keeping a watchful eye on the board and gaining co-production credits, the
album lasts roughly three quarters of an hour and contains eight songs, ****most of which have been
recorded in demo form at least twice (the Eno debacle to begin with, followed a year later by a reported
superbly produced demo tape courtesy of the Blue Oyster Cult's Alan Lanier,*** which, at a guess,
clinched the band's Elektra deal) and have been performed live innumerable times. "

From: "Just Watch This Screen", New Musical Express (February 1977) by Nick Kent
"Alan Lanier Demos: These were done in 1976 (sometime before August) for Clive Davis of Arista
Records. They consisted of: Torn Curtain, I Don't Care, Guiding Light, and O' Mi Amore. "

These 'Lanier-demos' have never surfaced until now; but I can only do trades (no money), can anyone
trade a Bruins' sweatshirt?

Regarding the sources in Parts 1-3. Clinton Heylin has a reputation of being a nasty, bullying,
go-maniac. However, like musicians and other artists (Pound?, Dali?), one must try hard to separate
the artist from the person---he's a very reliable source of info (with the exception of a couple of gaffes
below).

Hell has-- like all of us--some undesirable qualities, but making stuff up is not one of them:
RICHARD HELL: I feel kind of stupid repeating this stuff, making myself out to be some kind of bad boy.
It's all trivial. But at least the stuff I say is true, unlike some clowns.

Last but not least, it goes without saying that Keith's (The Wonder) integrity and relentless pursuit of
the facts/truth about Television/TV is beyond reproach.

Heylin refers in his index to the illustrious Fred Smith as "Fred 'Sonic' Smith".

He also says that the Neon Boys played "Poor Circulation". Does anybody know---isn't this also
another error?
