RE: (TV) Verlaine at Ramones film opening

There was problems with Joey not getting enough time and his family basically vetoed the film until the directors put in more of him in the form of radio interviews and quotes on screen (as far as I understand it) - theres been a few different versions around but I guess the one getting shown in the US now is the final edition - I think they'd shot a lot of footage before they'd even realised that they didnt actually have any music rights but I'd guess that would've been relatively simple enough to sort out

weren't there some major licensing problems with this
film? like the filmmakers not securing any music
rights? and joey's folks being upset he didn't get
more time? if so, any idea how it was worked out (or
is that another film i'm thinking of?).
