there used to be a fair amount of this when i'd see
buddy miller play -- he's also a real perfectionist
(and taper-unfriendly for that reason)(though by no
means a primadonna).  anyway, they started touring
with a guitar tech, that solved the problem.  everyone
noticed the difference.
