My answer was 3,011 times (includes his 23 times experimenting 
with an 8th grade fragment/seed of the song on saxophone).

Can anyone confirm (or have an opinion) that he didn't play guitar until 
17! (doesn't seem possible--akin to a Tiger Woods not even trying
