(TV) Would Someone Please Post This To Television_Group List?

I realize this is probably a no-no, but would someone please post a 'Copy
and Paste'
on the stuff below to the Television_Group List for me?

I can read that List's archives but I can''t *send* messages to the
Television_Group List on my work
PC. It now looks like I won't be home to my PC until real late tonight, but
I wanted to strike while
the while the iron is still hot on the topic: the different versions of the
Portland Oregon July 1978 show.

"July 2, 1978, The Earth Tavern, Portland, Oregon" On Television_Group List
on September 9,
2005, Philip wrote a good description (and distinction between all other
versions[?])

1) Philip wrote: " The guy who remixed the version on DAD earlier this year
concluded that the
circulating tape of this show has a soundboard recording in one channel, and
an audience mike or
mikes in the other channel. My take is that it sounds terrific. ***I think
the version we seeded here
last year is from a lower-generation tape overall (and a slightly more
complete one, containing about 30
extra seconds of intro material), but overall I'd give this remix the
edge*** [emphasis added by Leo].

Here are the remixer's notes: 'Background: I got this on DAT many years
ago labeled as SBD
(soundboard Reel-to-Reel > DAT. Upon closer examination I found that the
recording was
actually a soundboard-source recording in the left channel and a hissy
audience recording in the
right channel. I know this was a popular way of mixing live shows at one
time, but I felt like I could
make a better mix in Pro Tools with what I had.

Audio Process: I dumped the 48 k Hertz DAT to Pro Tools and copied both
channels so I could have
a L-R pair of each source. I panned the channels at 100% and added a slight
delay to the right channel
to simulate a stereo effect. I then applied a Lo-pass filter to the
audience-recording channels to cut hiss.
I increased the levels of the soundboard-source about +2.5 db, and decreased
the level of the
audience-source about -2.0 db, and then added 'fades' at the beginning and
end. The end result was
bounced to a .1 k Hertz .wav extension file formatted cd-r, and then
converted to FLAC with x-ACT.

Result: The new mix is much more balanced, but with an increased separation
of the guitars. Listen to
the 17-minute(!) 'Marquee Moon' as an example. The mix sounds a little
cleaner now, but the overall
sound is still kinda harsh. I think it's safe to say that's just how it
sounded that night. If anyone wants to
compare this to the widely circulated bootlegs of this show I'd be
interested in hearing your impression'."

Bo Diddley song, 'Pills' ') Dunn

remastered*** version. The latest
greatest version, remastered from tape and torrented. drop your other
versions and get this. 1 cd. A+."
