I dunno.  His stepdaughter Carlene Carter had some New Wave connections, but
there was some bad blood between them, at least for a while.  I mean, I'd be
surprised if Johnny never heard the name Tom Verlaine, but I'd also be
surprised if he would've been able to recognize Television if he heard 'em.

Robert Plant is apparently another story.

I hate it... to me it's one of the rare missteps on those Rick Rubin LP's.
But I don't like Nine Inch Nails anyway (really facile and unsophisticated
in the lyrical department, IMHO), so the song was, to me, beneath Johnny.
Now that version of "Mercy Seat" is killer, though.
