(TV) CBGBs

Ahhh, memories.

Having lived in Miami since 1982 -- after departing
parts around NJ and NYC -- I don't think I've been at
CBs since then. Perhaps I caught a gig or two on some
mid-80s visits, though.

But it certainly was a place where I saw some of the
greatest music of the day, starting from a couple of
Talking Heads/Television double bills in 1976. I
pretty much caught most of the top NY bands there.
Plus other groups, from the Dead Boys to Deadline
(Bill Lawell, Philip Wilson, R. Quine). And then some.

Even back then the bathroom was scary.

Speaking of Richard Lloyd's solo band gigs back then
-- did anyone go to a memorable double bill of he and
Johnny Thunders at at club called Heat. Everyone was
joking that night that it was actually a benefit for
Phoenix House. And that warehouse-y club, if I recall,
had a level of open decadence that was surprising even
for NYC.

Those were the days.
