Last night Mr Verlaine and Mr Ripp reached new heights with their concert at
the Amsterdam Paradiso (upstairs).

Entering the venue one could discover that most of the usual standing area was
covered with chairs. Two chairs, a couple of guitars and some equipment on
stage finished it all.

At around 22.50 the two gentleman came on stage and seemed very good spirited
and were talkative between songs. Tom seemed so humbled as he smiled and said
"thanks" after every song. He still looks like a young boy.

As Tom explained that he and Jimmy have been buddies for some 27 years now,
one could understand that what he said was in fact how he appreciated the two
playing together. Although they had one setlist on the floor between them it
was obvious that they drifted away from this one after a couple of songs.
The two guitars sounded so great together, giving each other enough room to
excel.

Midway they played a wonderful version of Little Johnny Jewel and I thought I
was going to die. At the end they played the best ever version of Prove It.
Of all the versions I have heard of that song in 28-29 years this was the best
ever. It was as if time stood still, trembled in the voice of Tom.
It showed the song in all its structured beauty.... My God. I just shook my
head amazed as I was about the beauty, the intimacy, the friendship, the fun.

Let's hope Mr Verlaine and Mr Ripp will release a live album of this tour.

Thank you Tom and Jimmy. You are two wonderful musicians.

Elaine got the setlist, if someone wants a copy email me off list and I will
send you a scan. As I said before, they played a different setlist as far as
I can tell.

Go and see them if possible. I am still bewildered over the beauty and magic
of last night.
