(TV) top shows of 2006

i'm gonna be totally honest here and say i may not
have bought 10 new releases in 2006 -- though i
probably bought about a hundred cds.  but i could give
you some favorite shows.  and yes, they're mostly all
ancient folk:

1.  henry grimes at visionfest xi
2.  sam rivers at visionfest xi
3.  joan jett at stubb's.  yes, i'm serious.  she is
so hot and totally kicked ass.
4.  pretenders at austin music hall
5.  slits at emo's
6.  joanna newsom at mercury lounge
7.  peel at emo's, beerland and end of an ear --
because they were my favorite new band discovery.
8.  the fall at stubb's -- just 'cause they showed up.
9.  eric freidlander at the stone
10.  (and if i may) watching the simulcast of closing
night at cb's w/ patti smith.  i have never watched
anything on a computer for three solid hours before,
and likely never will again, but was glad i did.
