Modern times - Rolling Stone's best record, Billboard's best record....
Admittedly, I haven't given Modern Times enough time, but one thing I remember
thinking when I heard it the first and second time was:
'I bet this would
sound really great with a better band.'
I have been listen to Bob for over 30
years.
 I own just about everything he ever recorded.

I think Modern Times
could have been better.
I saw him with the Raconteurs here in NoVA a few
months ago - the worst Dylan show ever...
Maybe that's tainting my opinion.
(Raconteurs were great)

That Dylan is really good, but I just recently walked
into a vintage
clothing store and found it hard to leave because "Time Out of
Mind" was
playing in its entirety... that's still THE late-period Dylan record
to me.
