Re: (TV) RIP Alex Chilton



The news of Chilton's death seems to be reverberating throughout the music
world like no recent passing I can recall.   So far I've received like 8
(wait a sec; no, make that 12) messages about it.

I've heard people compare Chilton's Big Star to the Velvet Underground in
that both bands were obscure and yet unusually, almost irrationally
influential.  It's like that thing people say about some bands: only few
people heard them, but those that did all went out and started bands
themselves.  Big Star seems to have been in that class.

Regret never having seen Chilton or Big Star live.  Liked almost everything
they did; few bands I can really say that about.
