I completely agree with your statement, Keith. I was just somewhat baffled by
some of the comments on that site, essentially saying that Verlaine isn't
needed for the band and not one person saying that Television was good because
of _4_ people.

Well, what would be the point, really?*
I think Television as a whole was/is
greater than the sum of its parts, but each part is is vital. You can't just
replace one of them with Jimmy Rip, Jay Dee Daugherty or Patrick Derivaz.
(*any more than the point of Television without Richard)
