I've been remiss and am going to fix that. FWIW I fully expect to love that
record and Richard's contribution to it. I don't even doubt that I might
prefer it to the new stuff from Television. I don't think I have partisan
blinders about the quality of any of these musicians' output... in fact I
just recently, sadly downgraded my opinion of "Songs and Other Things".

It is all opinion, I don't dispute that. But I do resent Richard's
persistent attempts to cloud our ability to develop those opinions by
relentlessly bashing the efforts of musicians with his bitter screeds. To
the extent that he has a point, he's gotten it across. Many times. He left
Television. Voluntarily. If the band's new efforts without him suck,
they're gonna suck whether or not Richard tells us, yet again, that he
invented the band and CBGB and that Tom is bad person or whatever.

If Television IV does indeed suck, I would like to be able to say that it
sucks, or indeed read the opinions of others who say it sucks, without
having to wade through a sea of discourse about pointless feuds dating back
to events the truth about which nobody can verify. Honestly, what other
musician in the world behaves this way? Did Bill Berry sit around on his
farm composing screed after screed about how bad every R.E.M. record after
his departure was? I mean, he could have... there were some baaaaaad R.E.M.
records over the last few years. But when you leave something on your own
terms, that oughta be it.
