Re: (TV) television cbgbs atlantic recordings ?

When LIVE AT THE OLD WALDORF came out (2003), Rhino explained that the 2-track
master from the radio station that broadcast the show had been sent to Elektra
in 1978 for possible release at the time. That's why Rhino was able to release
it in 2003 -- because the tape was already sitting in Elektra's vaults.
Considering how fast LIVE AT THE OLD WALDORF sold out (a limited edition of
5000), if there had been other live shows there, wouldn't they have released
them or at least mentioned them?

Which makes me believe, after all these
years, that if there are more professionally-recorded Television shows in
existence, they are probably not going to be unearthed/found/saved anytime
soon...

i actually enjoy
several cuts off the "live at cbgb's 1976" album...but it
does have a lot of
forgettable stuff. neat to know better material was
recorded...gives some
hope of release at some point.

Oh you mean this ? [2 LP 'Live at CBGBs']
What the hell is that ? Oh, that's bullsh.t what came
out ! You see what
happened was, all the bands had got
signed in between the time it was recorded
and when it
came out, and so the bands couldn't go on Atlantic. But
you know
that Television was recorded, Blondie and
Talking Heads and all these other
people as well, and it
was all good stuff and this was the junk that was
left
over. So Hilly Kristal just threw all these bands
together, but there was a
couple of sets from
Blondie so there's a whole load of stuff live.
