Re: (TV) Meyers/Hell?

Good questions, Deb. I don't know whether Tom legally changed his name or not.
Maybe his bank account's still in the name "Miller" for all I know. Not being
knowledgeable re. laws around stage names, etc., I can only guess maybe stage
names have a kind of legal status without a person having to legally abandon
his birth name & change entirely to the stage name. For instance, Hell's stage
name seems to have some legal status as far as writing credits go, as the
credits on the songs on his L.P.s say "Hell", not Meyers, & his books are
written under the name "Hell" (except for the Theresa Stern one).
Maybe for credits like that it's a case of rights belonging to e.g. Richard
Meyers a.k.a. Richard Hell. To add to the confusion, I found at the ASCAP
site "Chinese Rocks" credited to Richard Meyers (not Hell) & Douglas Colvin.
And at the BMI site I noticed the song "Blank Generation" is credited to
Richard Hell (not Meyers), & "Marquee Moon" is credited to Tom Verlaine (not
Miller).

Did Richard NOT actually legally change his name to Hell? I thought that he
did but he seems to still 'officially' go by Meyers, heh?

But Tom DID legally change his name, right? as he just doesn't use Miller at
all anymore. For all legal and otherwise purposes he's Tom Verlaine.
