RE: (TV) Tom interview from 2006

No -- this does NOT make any sense!

It can't be that Verlaine's speaking about "The Wonder" here. It must be the
rejected, pre-"Flash Light" record, sometimes referred to as "The Lost Album",
since he's claiming that the A&R man said "go do
another record". Or there was YET another record rejected, in between "Flash
Light" and "The Wonder"? That'd be sensational news! Everything points to the
fact that he IS talking about "Flash Light" AND that Rip is not on it. What
COULD be evidence of that he's talking about "The Wonder" would be that the
A&R man wanted Rip removed and Verlaine caved in and shifted side-player, to
Marty Wilson-Piper. But do we KNOW that this is a fact, that Wilson-Piper
played, alongside Rip -- or wasn't Rip in the picture at all here? Then why?
And why did Verlaine stated that he told the A&R man " I did it with this
other guy Jimmy"? Jimmy who? He fooled the A&R man, who didn't liked Rip, by
telling him that there was someone else "Jimmy"? Then why not one "Marty"?
Wouldn't that be easier? To use the guitar player's real first-name?

To make it all even weirder -- there's no info on "The Wonder" cover that this
Duffy character was involved in that record too, repeating his crimes from
"Flash Light".

At this stage, I'm VERY puzzled by it all!

so great. After five years playing together they had a great mutual
understanding. I think quite a few of the distinctive guitar sounds on that
album are Jimmy's.

benefit from remastering, and it was disappointing that the re-release (was it
Collector's Choice?) was unchanged. Somehow the sound is less "sparkling" than
on Cover and The Wonder, in my opinion.
