Re: (TV) Fwd: LAMF 35-Year Anniversary Box Set Pre-Christmas Release!

Thanks Robin. I look forward to a complete track list. I've been hoping for a
complete release of those Hell-era demos for years -- we've gotten dribs and
drabs on various comps, but a number of tracks have never been off the bootleg
circuit (Hell doing an early "You Gotta Lose", and all of the tracks Thunders
sang). Walter Lure's sole contribution to this session, "Flight", was finally
included on a comp called DOWN TO KILL a few years ago; you can read my review
of that compilation at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BDF0D8/

Not sure
why they are bothering to include a cleaned-up version of the original LAMF
LP, though. The Heartbreakers spent months mixing and remixing the album, only
to find the mastering was always flawed. The "final" mixes for the original
LAMF don't really represent any preference on their part; they are just one
set of many failed attempts to get a decent sound on vinyl. I'd rather hear
the "new" mixes they released in 1994, or the REVISITED mixes Thunders created
in the mid-80s. Either is just as valid a point of view of the material. In a
weird way, REVISITED, while frowned up today, represents the only "coherent"
vision of the material that Thunders ever personally oversaw.
