Re: (TV) Very Highly Recommended: Lloyd's 13-Part Video Interview on YouTube

Bowery Electric email lists Richard Lloyd as playing on May 24, but I
can't seem to get tickets for it on the Bowery Electric website. Does
anyone have more information on how to get tickets?

I agree with Leif the prismfilms YouTube Lloyd & Hell interviews are both very
worthwhile & complementary, & wouldn't say one's more definitive than the
other.
I posted a link to the Hell YT one to the other mailing list a while
back right after Stan posted the excellent Lloyd one there.
For those here who
may have missed it, here's the 17-part Hell one Leif refers to:

Yes, I recall
a Tom interview where he said Friction was one of the first songs he ever
wrote. So, if Lloyd's claiming he deserves co-writing credit,
perhaps he added
some guitar parts to the recorded version he feels he should get credited for.
A few random claimed factoidscorroborated in various interviews by at least
two in the band:
-Both Hell & Lloyd say Tom pressured them to stop moving
around onstage (or in Hell's case, leaping high in the air!), as they both
apparently used to do in the early days.

-Both Hell & Lloyd say once Tom
started dating Patti, he became, in Hells words "insufferable". Lloyd said
something similar in some interview, that Tom's ego went wild on becoming
Patti's boyfriend.

-Both Tom & Lloyd say Hell's talents as a bass player
were less than prodigious & the band sounded much better once Fred joined.
Even Hell seems willing to admit or at least imply this was true, saying
something along the lines of he never quite considered himself a musician, but
rather a singer & song writer who happened to play bass.

I discovered the Lloyd interview while looking for the Hell one and
then
watched them back-to-back. I think they complement each other, and the
questions asked are similar (and the answers are to some extent also similar).
Lloyd comes across as quite balanced, in my eyes, but there are some
delightful mud-slinging here and there. Never before have I heard Lloyd
claiming songwriting credits for "See No Evil" and "Friction". Wasn't the
latter one one of these very early Verlaine compositions that he used to play
in open-mic nights way before the group was formed?

Anyone know if these are
brand new or not? Both interviews were sneaked out
on Youtube earlier this
month by this
Prism Archive company, which seems to
specialise in music
documentaries,
but there's not dating to be found
anywhere. Hell is out
promoting his book, so it would be natural for him to
speak to a TV reporter
(or documentarian), but since there's no mentioning at
all about the
autobiography, I'm not so sure. Isn't is just a bit strange,
this -- all of a
sudden there are two very interesting interview sessions
about, more or less,
the same thing witout any proper framing or
introduction?
