(TV) New here; hello

Hello all,
I'm glad to have found this forum. Maybe it's just me, but I see fewer and fewer band discussion boards every year. And in my current life, I have few people who appreciate my music (and even fewer who want to discuss it!).
I became a Television fan after picking up the Creem July '76 "Bicentennial Issue" for a Paul McCartney article. I was fascinated by this band that looked so different and so cool. Being 11 years old and having no access to records that weren't sold at the local Kmart, I continued to collect Hit Paraders and the like for TV articles without hearing a note of the music. From the descriptions, I figured it was something I'd be into.
I was finally able to track down "Adventure" soon after its release (I'm one of the rare fans who didn't start with "Marquee Moon"). Since then, I've gone through many phases of musical appreciation, but Television, along with the Beatles and a few others, are one of the bands whose music will always be on my playlist.

I saw Richard Lloyd on the "Field of Fire" tour in '86, and Tom Verlaine on, I believe, a tour for "Flashlight" in '87. One of my prized possession's is Verlaine's autograph--I had a copy of "A Streetcar Named Desire" for a playwriting class, and he signed it with, I swear to God, a smiley face at the end.
Unfortunately, I never saw Television in any of its incarnations. I was working as a music journalist in the late '80s-early '90s, and I'd interviewed many bands on the "punk reunion circuit." I'm not naming names, but about 75% of them were just cashing it in, and I was kind of disgusted with the whole idea. So I skipped the first second-wave Television tours. By the time I came around to the idea of seeing a reformed TV, Richard Lloyd had left.

I'm only now coming around to the thought of seeing the latest incarnation. At some point you realize your favorite musicians are, er, getting up there and you better take what you can get before they retire.
Anyway, thanks again to those who maintain this board, and I'm enjoying checking out the archives.
K
