went to see Television last saturday here in Buenos Aires ,Argentina ... oh boy ! ... so good ...it was one of those magic times ... 100 minutes show ,all of Marquee moon except for "see no evil "plus "i`m gonna find you " ,"1880" and "persia" ...
i recorded it ,but i still don`t have a chance to hear it ..once i get it all tracked and mastered i will pass it on ... i was up front ,center ,it sounded amazing ,real clear ,much more than the previous one that i saw ...Billy`s hi hat was so well eq'ed ,it didn't seemed amplified at all...the guitars retained all the details ,even the hum of the the single-colis pickups ,they were absolutely dry ,with no reverb whatsoever ,when Jimmy used effects it was almost subliminal ,just a little doubling on the Lloyd solos ,and some Echoplex-like mess in " persia "coupled with an organy sound ...he used the Telecaster ,wich i think it suits this material better ,again it was clean ,clean ..just chimey Vox AC-30's at a moderate volume ...he nailed the old songs flawlessly and with conviction ...
Tom went wis his Franken-strat ...he played some bits of "Persia" with a pen on his right hand ,wich sounded like some weird african drum or something ...
he plays without any effects ,i don`t know how he boosted his solos with some extra DB'S ,but he had that power ...
he played fantastic , well constructed solos ,not noodling at all,not a single bum note in the entire concert ... got chills just remenbering " torn curtain " and "friction"...
Fred was elegant with his glasses ,hat and the lovely little Ampeg bass ,wich i believe ,he used in " Marquee moon" ...
overall they were really tight ,like on "i`m gonna find you " ... they just had such a soulful groove ,all four whacking hard on Billy's snare hits ...they seemed comfortable and relaxed ,and tuned extensibly between songs ...
you can see a liked it ,but i don't think they can be better than this ...just amazing ,powerful and unique ...
