We Need More MM Listers' Reviews! / RE: (TV) TV's Former Opinion of Young's Playing

These very two interviews are in a big box in my closet.
In fact, I'd bet I sent you the 1981 one in 2001 or 2002.

If I didn't have a lengthy (but silly )task to finish
yesterday, I would have taken the time to search
The Wonder's PRESS Section.

So, Keith, thanks for these memory joggers.

Leo

Ps: >TV: "I like Richard Thompson' s tone. I don' t like
>his playing."

Tom, your statement makes my day (despite all that
dreadful music you played from your obscure exotic collection
on the NYC radio station in January :>) ). (With apologies to
all the R. Thompson believers out there.)

Get ready for a deluge of rebuttals. Why don't all the rebuttal-ers,
and almost everyone else send in their reviews --no matter how
brief--of the 2 new cds? I appreciate the 4-5 who have done so
already (especially amarante [amilcaramarante2002@yahoo.com.ar])
Jay, Stan, Keith, Russ, Glenn, and whomever else I'm forgetting.

What's the point of having the MM List if members are too timid, too blaze,
(too lazy[?] :>) to send in their thoughts and critiques (good or bad)?
I realize everyone has busy lives.

What about that new guy who lives in the Fresno area with his wife? I'd
love to hear what he thinks?

And Howard, and Maurice, and Robin, G. Grant, M. Ramone, Lief, etc., etc.,
...you know who you are. Get cracking!

"BR: Do you listen to Neil Young a lot?
TV: People told me about Neil Young about five years ago. The only thing
i knew was "Heart of Gold" so I started buying stuff, but I must have
bought the wrong ones. Then I heard "Drive Back," this electric sort of
stuff and then I knew what people were talking about - a certain
spontaneous element---and I knew what people were comparing. It wasn't
someone who learned a bunch of Chuck Berry, Jeff Beck, or Eric Clapton
riffs." (Boston Rock Magazine 1981)

"bEverybody says I sound like Neil Young. I donbt know. The first
Neil Young record I listened to was bZumab. That song bCortezb
is a great song. I like the lyrics bcos they capture something
thatbs historically true. And subconsciously present. Hebs one of
the few guitar players I like. I like Link Wraybs early guitar
playing. I like Buchananbs work in the b50s on those Chess singles.
I like Richard Thompsonbs tone. I donbt like his playing. I like
that sparkly Fender sound. The Byrds got that same kind of sound. That
whole kinda shiney sound.b (NME 1978)
