Odd, isn't it? I think Documentary is great.

And Amilcar wrote:
i still think the same ,it s an original ,addictive and demented song ,it blends so well the lyrics ,the melodies and grooves , really like the other two ,too , the guitar sounds on "orbit " ...

Valerie, I mean Amilcar, and Keith, I've been doing some thinking... some deep, deep thinking [and listening]... and I've come to realize that... we must agree to differ. (The disagreement seems slight compared to Keith "it's the worst" and Phil "it's the best" over the first Verlaine album.)

But, as ever, I take your point about the guitar sounds. Without being able to express it as well as you guitar experts, I can say there are fantastic guitar sounds throughout the album, and some real innovation: Tom is not resting on his laurels. At the same time, "All Weirded Out" is a throwback to 1982, and rather appealing for that reason.

For what it's worth, my favourites on the album are "Blue Light", "The Earth Is In The Sky", and "The Day On You".

P.S. The article/interview in Guitarist magazine is fascinating, especially for guitarists.

And for anyone who reads Flemish/Dutch, there's an interesting-looking review of SaOT here:
www.humo.be/cps/rde/xchg/humo/hs.xsl/Muziek_CDs.html?review_id=2962
They included a link to Keith's site.

I'm wondering what "'Songs and Other Things' is een zeer degelijke tweede" means. :-b
