Ys grows on me with every play. The key is, I think, to listen in total
darkness, or with eyes closed, or with headphones. "Ys" is an apt title,
because the songs belong to their own world. This is Joanna Newsome's vision,
as purely as many Verlaine solo efforts are, and you've got to go there
(Clichi Head-Off: "You want to travel with her, and you want to travel
blind").

A comparison that I haven't seen yet is to Nico's Marble Index. Nico didn't
have the chops on her harmonium that J.N. has on her harp, but I hear the same
stunning setting (sub VDP for Cale) of an irregular jewel.
