Re: (TV) Chris Spedding/Sharks

The solo records aren't too great, although the first one is OK and has
a great cover featuring both a terrific suit and a fabulous car. And
"Motorbikin'". The first two Sharks albums are very 70s but pretty good
in a 70s way, (if you know what I mean?) and definitely a lot better
than a lot of stuff coming out then.

However, "Like a Black Van Parked On A Dark Curve" is really excellent.
Some of it sounds like a kind of twisted Sprinsteen (but without the
bluster). Some of it's blues-y and there's a dark edge to all of it
which should appeal to most on the Marquee Moon list, I would have
thought(!) His partner on this is a guy called Steve Parsons (does
anyone know anything else about him?) and drums are played by Pete
(Attractions) Thomas. It really is well worth searching out. The guitar
playing is, of course, excellent.
