Re: (TV) "Blue Mask"

Hey, not a single vote yet for my favourite Lou Reed album, 'Coney Island
Baby'. A great band, though I don't know who they were, and some of his most
warm and human songs. Especially 'She's My Best Friend' and the title track
are ace. Of course he had to go and put a stupid throwaway song about being a
serial killer on it, but then it wouldn't be a Lou Reed album without one.
Am I alone in liking this album?
BTW I think 'Live In Italy' has now been re-released as a budget single CD
called something like 'Live'. For what it's worth, I think the first two sides
are great, but the second disc, where they play all the old Velvets stuff, is
pretty dull. Quine is my favourite guitarist bar none, but he always seems to
me at his best when he has to work within a tight song structure, as he does
with Lloyd Cole for instance -- the brilliance of Quine is that not only can
he do what he does, but he fits it in to other peoples' songs really well. On
something like 'Sister Ray', though, where you get both him and Reed going at
it hammer and tongs over one chord for ten minutes, it loses its impact a bit.

PS someone sent me a promo of the new XTC album today -- I almost feel like
rushing home and putting it on now! This should be good.
