It'll be interesting, that's for sure.  I remember seeing the LotR
(really just the Fellowship of the Ring) movie by Ralph Bakshi back in
'79, and I was a bit disappointed.  I recall it being very dark, both in
tone and in the filming.  (That is, the film itself was lacking in light,
and the story was grim.)  There was not, as far as I know, a sequel
released.

I actually liked the Rankin-Bass cartoon version of The Hobbit, but that
lends itself to a cartoon/TV movie treatment.
