Scott's list emphasized my feelings; maybe I'm just becoming an old fart,
but nothing I hear on the local college and "alternative" radio stations
are doing it for me.  Generally, when I hear something that makes me
take notice, it's from someone who's been around for a while.  All the
new artists I'm hearing seem to be rehashing old sounds and themes without
adding much new.

Beck is doing a good job of synthesizing old and new, but by now I can't
really call him a new artist.  I'll take the bands posted, though, and 
keep an ear out.
