That's interesting... I don't have it handy, but in Clinton Heylin's book FROM
THE VELVETS TO THE VOIDOIDS, I believe he writes that the NY "rock" bands were
blown away by the Damned, who were funnier, wrote better songs, and played
faster than many of the CBGBs bands (specifically, the Dead Boys, in the
paragraph Heylin where mentions it). I guess he didn't say if they played
"well" though!!
