I can now recommend this place highly! It was sort of strange to be
in a place that evokes a Louisiana bayou shack with a foot of snow
outside, but I got over it quickly.

The food we had was excellent. My wife had the jerked chicken which
was as tasty as anything we had in Jamaica, and I had a nice steak with
garlic and shrimp. Yum! Even the side dishes were good - the mac & cheese
ordered by a friend reminded me of the stuff my mom made years ago before
Kraft made everyone lazy. I wish I had tried the ribs & greens - they looked
tasty! Next time, I suppose. And next time, maybe I'll get to meet Dennis!

We saw Patti Smith on Saturday night. Though the show was sold out,
we managed to get in just before she started. The snow kept a couple of
folks away, but not many.

New Year's Eve found us at the Lion's Den for Project/Object with Ike
Willis playing Zappa tunes, including all of Joe's Garage. Brilliant!
There was no better way I could have rung in the new millennium.

There's no better way to spend a blizzard than in a posh hotel, venturing
forth (well-bundled, of course!) at its height to find the city with its
roads empty and few people out and about. The strangest thing was that
there was a considerable amount of lightning and thunder! Quite a memorable
experience.

Happy New Year to all!
