Re: (TV) Jazz Monk

E-Music has a lot of Jazz (for example the Fantasy label). I have an "unlimited" subscription wich means that I can download as much as I want for 10bucks/month. (You get serious problems, because you never have time to listen to everything. Even worse, you're may not allowed to play jazz at home...)

Can you, Maurice, or anyone else recommend some of the 18 Monk-titles, or do you think that everything is worth downloading?

I haven't been watching the Burns special because my TV's been
flatlined for several months, and I'm not motivated enough to buy
another (although I think my wife would prefer having one, so we may
take the plunge).

If we did have a working set, I might feel ambivalent about
watching--apparently a lot of really good stuff get short shrift from
Wynton. Monk, for example, is dispensed with in five minutes, so
I've read in reviews. To this end, I finally picked up something
I've been wanting for years, the Complete Riverside Recordings of
Thelonious Monk. 6 of his most productive years, including the
_Brilliant Corners_ sessions, _Himself_, the Town Hall Concert, and a
whole lot of other stuff...on 15 CDs. It's amazing.

Just count me as a follower of Monk,
Maurice
