(TV) pretentious (however it is spelt)

Having never met Verlaine I can't say whether or not
he is pretentious (damn no spell checker bear with me)
however he seems pretty open during interviews. 
Surley he gets a little pissed off about answering
Television questions for the 11th time through but if
I had a new job and all people wanted to ask me about
and heap praise on was my grade twelve graduation,
well I'd get tired of it after awhile.

Here is prententious (and this puts Verlaine, Smith et
al to shame)

Bryan Adams was playing in Regina SK awhile back and
the place sold out within minutes.  He refused all
interviews with the press quoting that he does not do
interviews.  Aprox 8 months later he came back and it
was to soon and the place only sold aprox 1/4 of his
tickets.  Guess who suddenly was calling the press to
do an interview?  Everclear did the same thing.  They
were scheduled for an interview but shortly after
their concert sold out, they cancelled the interview. 
Both of them basically told their respective fans to
f*ck off.  

Verlaine may have demanded the odd free supper for an
interview but look at him back then, a big wind would
have taken him away.  And so what if he gets all the
press and accolades for the reunion tour, someone has
to be in charge.  He may come across as a litlle odd
but really, when you do little other than sit in your
apartment wearing shoe boxes and drinking cold tomato
soup from the can, no wait...that was Mr. Burns and
Smithers on the casino episode.  I loved the casino
episode.
