I'm not a big Bruce fan.  Much of his stuff has been overplayed, and
pompous describes a lot of it.  But Nebraska... wow.  An album of songs
stripped bare and laid out for us to hear.  It was the freshest breeze
to hit American Folk music in decades, though folk purists would claim
that it's not folk at all.  They can have the recto-cranial impaction
reversed at any time :)
